CONNOISSEUR’S CONUNDRUMS

FINE ART FORGERY, CRAFTMANSHIP OR CONJURING TRICK?

Led by DAVID PHILLIPS

 A look at the surface of paintings and the effect of time and conservation treatments.

This leads onto Fine Art forgery and whether this can be called craftmanship or is it a conjuring trick?. No wonder connoisseurs have to consider stylistic, technical and archival evidence before making an attribution.

In the final lecture there will be a look at a range of works from Minoan pots to Picasso to find if we have good taste. In the end when it comes to what is good taste and what is not, we will perhaps agree on which is which.

Tickets for this event will be £25 each to include morning coffee but not lunch.  Please note that only food bought on the premises may be eaten in the Vauxhall Recreational Club.
