HADFAS was formed in 1968. The Society continues
to thrive with a loyal and committed membership. Its aims as set down by its
NADFAS founder chairman, Patricia Fay, are to provide enjoyment and instruction
by means of illustrated lectures and visits in all aspects of the decorative and
fine arts, and in some small way help to preserve our national and local
heritage.
The Society meets once a month on a
Thursday morning at the Riverside Suite, Vauxhall Recreation Centre, Luton.
There are no meetings in April, August and December. Each meeting consists of a lecture
on a wide range of art related topics given by an approved NADFAS lecturer.
Visits, organised by HADFAS in accordance
with NADFAS aims, are to private houses, museums, exhibitions and other places
of interested connected with the arts. The Society has an active
Church Recorders Group,
Heritage Volunteers Group and a
Young Arts Representative who will initiate annual
art projects in local schools.
